Panattoni Development Company Begins Construction of Major Caterpillar Build-to-Suit in Sanford, NC

Sanford, NC–A ground-breaking ceremony on September 23, 2010 marked the construction commencement of a new facility for the BCP (Building Construction Products) Division of Caterpillar, Inc. in Sanford, North Carolina. The new addition is being constructed immediately adjacent to Caterpillar’s 175,000 square foot Skid Steer Assembly Plant.

The new building is 287,000 total square feet on approximately 18 acres. It will house general office, engineering, logistics/distribution and fabrication for the BCP Division’s product line, which produces compact construction equipment. The new facility will add more than 325 jobs over the next four years.

Mike Gray, Panattoni Partner in charge of the project, commented, “Panattoni is excited to be active again in the Carolinas and to have an opportunity to serve the global leader in construction equipment, Caterpillar.”

Chris Norvell, Senior Managing Director of Cassidy Turley’s Raleigh Office, represented Caterpillar in the negotiations.
