Houston, TX–CyrusOne held its Grand Open House event earlier this month for its new 92,000 square foot data center within Beltway 8 Corporate Centre, Houston, Texas. Built from the ground-up in six months, the state-of-the art, colocation, data center facility has been operational since December 2009 with on-going customer installations. The business park features six buildings developed by Panattoni Development Company, Inc. totaling over 1,500,000 square feet and an additional 60 acres available for build-to-suit opportunities and future development.
Beltway 8 Corporate Centre is located in West Houston along the Beltway 8 Toll Road between Clay Road and Tanner Road, just North of Interstate 10. CyrusOne joins other tenants within Beltway 8 Corporate Centre including Allstate Insurance, Walgreens, Mercer, Cameron, National Oilwell Varco and Carbo Ceramics.
CyrusOne and Panattoni entered into a build-to-suit agreement in the second quarter of 2009 and began construction in May of last year. The facility was constructed by Metzger Construction and was shell complete in November 2009 with remaining infrastructure added by December 2009 to bring the facility on-line and ready for customer installation.
According to Justin Bennett, Development Manager for Panattoni, “This project demonstrates the capabilities and strength of all of the parties involved. Despite the challenges that existed in 2009 with respect to real estate transactions, the CyrusOne build-to-suit was one of the very few new construction starts within Houston in the last year. CyrusOne is a first-class organization, and this deal is evidence of their clear recognition relative to the advantages of choosing a development team that can deliver the quality product that now exists within Beltway 8 Corporate Centre.”
“We chose this business development park based on numerous criteria including flood zones, access to fiber and expansion capability,” said David Ferdman, President and CEO, CyrusOne. “The additional acres to build additional data centers, gives us the flexibility to meet customer demands as needed.”
Similar to other CyrusOne facilities in Texas, the West Houston data center features the highest power and cooling redundancy offered in the region.
