GSA officially signs lease for Des Moines Business Park

Des Moines, WA – The General Services Administration has officially signed the lease for a new Federal Aviation Administration facility at the Des Moines Creek Business Park Phase II.
The property, which is being developed by Panattoni Development Company, will house a new 300,000 square-foot office space where up to 1,600 people could work, consolidating the FAA Northwest Mountain Region’s four offices in Renton and SeaTac.
The consolidation will allow FAA to “better deliver their mission to provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world” by integrating space, people and technology solutions, according to the GSA. But mostly, the intent is part of a federal initiative to reduce real estate costs.
“This lease award is the result of an open and competitive procurement,” GSA announced in a statement. “Des Moines Creek Business Park Phase II Panattoni Development Company met all the requirements of the Request for Lease Proposals and providing the best overall value to the taxpayers.”
The Des Moines Creek Business Park is a multi-phase, 87-acre property that will include up to two-million square feet of flexible-use, manufacturing, office, distribution and industrial business park buildings. The FAA is expected to take up all of phase two of the project.
Last April, the GSA issued a notice of “intent to lease” the property, following a competitive bid process.
